National Charity League, Inc. is a sponsorship organization, which means applicants need to be sponsored by a current active member of the Orange/Villa Park Chapter. To apply for membership, each prospective Mother/Daughter is asked to attain a sponsor and co-sponsor from our chapter.
Our membership process starts in September 2014 and the application is for membership for the following school year 2015/2016. The deadline to submit your application is January 15, 2015. Please contact Sheri Shepherd if you have any questions.
How do I find a Sponsor?
If you know someone in the NCL Orange/Villa Park Chapter, talk to her about membership obligations and membership drive timeline. If you do not know someone in NCL, please let us know and we will contact you to discuss your options to secure a sponsor.
Through NCL, mothers and daughters work together as volunteers to support the community while developing as leaders and role models. NCL has a “three pillar” approach of leadership, philanthropy and culture. Mothers and daughters are encouraged to take leadership positions within the individual classes as well as within the chapter. They work at various philanthropies within their community. In addition, each year mothers and daughters are exposed to various cultural experiences.
The NCL experience is designed as a six-year program. The chapter is organized into a “Class” for each grade level of the 7th through 12th grades. For example, girls who will be in the 7th grade in the fall of 2015 will be the Class of 2021. The mothers are called Patronesses and the daughters are called Ticktockers. The NCL Ticktocker experience is designed as a small group leadership development program, so grade level classes are kept intentionally small. Typically there are about 25-30 girls in each class.
